Year 6W

Hello and welcome to 6W’s class page.

We are all a happy lively bunch and love being in school! The class teacher is Mrs Willshire.

Our learning is supported by Mrs Kewin and Mrs Plant.

We celebrate diversity in our class and are really proud of all of the different cultures in our class. We enjoy learning about different religions and celebrate our uniqueness.

In year 6 we value the importance of reading and encourage our children to read at least 5 times a week. I do ask that home reading books are brought into school on a daily basis. I do understand that weekends can be a busy time, however even a small amount of reading over the weekend can add up to lots!

Homework will be set on a Friday, and is due the following Friday. Homework that will be set will include a range of different activities that link to our learning from the week. Additionally, weekly spellings will be given with a test given the following Friday. Your children have been sent their TT Rockstars, Spelling Shed and Reading Plus log-ins, to
access from home. Children are expected to log-in regularly and practise developing these key skills (multiplication knowledge, spelling and reading comprehension and fluency). As mentioned, daily reading is a part of set homework.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have misplaced or lost these.

P.E lessons are on a Thursday. Children are to wear their uniform to school and change in class. The boys and girls will be provided with different areas to change in.

PE Kit: Black shorts and white T. shirt. Trainers will be required for outdoor activities. Jogging bottoms are allowed. NO football kits to be worn.

As always, please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss any questions that you may have.
