Welcome to 3TR’s class page!
We are 3TR. We are so proud of the diverse backgrounds and cultures that make up our class and love celebrating our differences. We speak lots of different languages and our families are from countries all over the world. We can speak Romanian, Polish, Portuguese, Tigrinya, Arabic, Spanish and Yoruba! We enjoy sharing our cultures and beliefs and we love to see ourselves portrayed in books in our library.
In 3TR we are kind, respectful and caring children who enjoy all aspects of learning. We are ready to face the challenges ahead in year 3 with determination and resilience. We are so lucky in Year 3 that we have lots of extra opportunities to enhance our experience at school. We are supported in our learning each day by Miss Taylor and Mr Telfer.
There are lots of things to remember in year 3, but we try to keep a routine each week. We will let you know as soon as possible if there are any changes.
P.E including Swimming
Swimming is on a Monday afternoon. Children all need a swimming costume (girls), swimming shorts (boys), a towel and a swimming cap for longer hair. Swimming goggles are optional.
P.E lessons are on a Wednesday afternoon. Children are to bring their P.E uniform to school. They can wear black jogging bottoms/leggings/ shorts, a white t-shirt and their school jumper. Please remember to put your child’s name in their PE kit.
This term, we are lucky enough to have Ms White in school every Thursday helping us to sing, dance and perform for our show about the Iron Man.
Homework will be set on a Friday, and is due the following Friday. Homework that will be set will include a range of different activities that link to our learning from the week.
Weekly spellings will be given on a Friday with a weekly spelling test the following Thursday. Your children will have their TTRockstars, Numbots and Spelling Shed passwords in the front page of their Reading Records in order to access these beneficial learning platforms from home.
Children are expected to log-in regularly and practise developing these key skills (multiplication knowledge, number bonds and spelling).
In year 3, there is a clear expectation that children read at least 4 times a week. We kindly ask that you try to read for at least 5/10 minutes each day and bring books into school daily. This helps us to identify and monitor your child’s progress and when their book can be changed in order for them to experience a selection of books and genres. Please remember to sign their reading record with the date, page number and comments about the book. If your child reads 4 times in one week they will earn a sticker in their reading record. If they receive 4 stickers they will be able to colour in the red stripe on their rainbow chart. Every 4 stickers they earn after this, will enable them to colour in another stripe on the rainbow. They will receive a certificate once they have completed the rainbow.
